IEF: WHAT WE DO

The Irvington Education Foundation is an independent 501c3 non profit with the mission of supporting the district’s commitment to our children’s education. The organization is run by a board of parent volunteers.

The IEF ensures Irvington schools’ classrooms are not only academically rigorous, but also that our curriculum stretches beyond the district’s budget to provide innovative, experiential learning opportunities. IEF programs transport students from everyday instruction to engaging moments that spark curiosity and expand learning.

The program we support all come from grant proposals from Irvington teachers, administrators and high school students.

Science/Technology Engineering/Math (STEM)

For less than $100 per student in our District, the IEF empowers our teachers to elevate everyday instruction with creative, hands-on programs that excite children about science, preparing them for the future in STEM.

English Language Arts

Last year, with the community’s generous support, the IEF raised more than $90,000 that directly supported over a dozen teacher-initiated programs for the 2022-23 school year. These included robust programs in theater and literacy.

Health & Mindfulness

The Irvington Education Foundation raises funds from our community to enrich the academic curriculum with programs that encourage the mind and body, like yoga at Main Street School and a Meditation & Mindfulness Lab at Irvington Middle School and High School.

Social Sciences

Your generous support has funded some truly hands-on approaches to teaching kids about geography and history in our community and beyond.

IEF Fosters Innovation and Out-of-Box Initiatives

In 2014, the Irvington School District, in partnership with the Irvington Education Foundation and Sunnyside Federal Savings & Loan, launched the Innovation Fund, a unique grant designed to spur creativity and entrepreneurship among students. The Innovation Fund provides an opportunity to receive funding for a program, enrichment experience, or community initiative to benefit their peers and the district.

The IEF seeks members of the community to help mentor these highly motivated students. If you'd like to mentor someone, please apply
